MARKETS is a food wholesaler in Cēsis. Since 1992 its own trucks have delivered to around 1300 shops, kitchens and public institutions across Latvia. Years ago we built them a small placeholder site, because that was all they wanted at the time: a phone number, a page about the company and the Christmas gift catalogue. In September 2026 it became a proper company website, written from scratch and launched the day before the Riga Food trade fair.
What changed
- Pages. Four before. Thirty-seven now, in Latvian and English: products and the SLĀTAVA and Cap-Cap house brands, who they deliver to, a page for producers who want shelf space in Latvia, logistics, the shop, news, and the Christmas packs that were the whole old site.
- Forms. One contact form before. Four now: contact, become a client, newsletter and the event lead form behind the leaflet QR code. Submissions land in a store the sales team reads.
- Opening hours. A line of text before. Now a live status for the office and the shop that knows the weekday and Riga time: open until 18.00, closing soon, closed and opens tomorrow at 8.00, with a weekly table on the shop page.
- One call to action. Prices are per client at a wholesaler, so there is no price list to download. Every page leads to “Become a client” instead.

Design
Fourteen Latvian and Baltic wholesaler sites were audited before a line was drawn. The sector is corporate and buyer-first, so the site is white, photo-led and calm, set in Onest with the brand red as the only accent. What makes it theirs is the red tape, the ink stamp and the chip badges carried over from the printed material, so the site, the rollup, the leaflet and the stand at Riga Food read as one thing. The print side of the same launch is in MARKETS at Riga Food 2026.

Astro 7, deployed as a Cloudflare Worker with static assets, so every page is served from the edge and the forms run as API routes next to it. Form submissions go to Cloudflare KV. Fonts are self-hosted with the Latin Extended subset declared last, which is the one detail that keeps Latvian macrons in place above 66px. Two languages, structured data for the organisation, brands and breadcrumbs, and a news section the client edits in Markdown.
