Can anyone send email as your company?
Email does not check who the sender says they are. Whether a stranger can put your company in the From line of an invoice depends on two records in your domain settings, and most companies never published them. Type your domain below and find out. Nothing is stored and nothing is emailed to you.
The safe first step
Add this TXT record in your DNS settings. It enforces nothing, so it cannot break your email, and it starts sending you reports on who is sending as you:
- Name
- Type
- TXT
- Value
Getting from there to actual protection is the part worth care: every legitimate sender you use has to authenticate first, or switching on enforcement silently drops real mail. That order of operations is what we do for clients.
